Role

Lori supports the Science of Teaching and Learning team in fulfilling the Centre’s mandate as it relates to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). She works collaboratively in designing, developing, and implementing projects related to SoTL and she also supports faculty and instructors through consultations and designing and delivering workshops and resources related to SoTL and well-being.

Biography

Lori obtained her Ph.D. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences in the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba.

She developed a passion for teaching as a graduate student and has worked as a sessional instructor for over 15 years at the Department of Psychology (UM) and the International College of Manitoba (ICM). Her early research concentrated on memory and attention, but her curiosity about the human mind has led her to a strong interest in positive psychology and the science of well-being. Currently, her research interests lie in the impact of student and instructor well-being on teaching and learning and in international student learning in Canadian higher education systems.

When not at the Centre, Lori enjoys spending time with family (including her dogs and parrots), music, and cottage life on Lake Winnipeg.
