Role

As Faculty Development Specialist, Cheikh’s main role is to provide expert advice to faculty members, and teaching staff, regarding the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of blended, online, and technology enabled programs and courses.


Biography

Cheikh holds a Ph. D. degree in Physical Chemistry, a Bachelor of Education degree, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Instructional Design.He has been working in the field of Higher Education since 1998, in both France and Canada. He is currently a Faculty Development Specialist at the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning at University of Manitoba. Prior to moving to The Centre, Cheikh was an Instructional Designer and the Associate Director of Distance and Online Education at the University of Manitoba, where he was responsible for course delivery systems and operations including quality assurance, pedagogical support and examination administration.

Cheikh has led or been actively involved in research projects aimed at informing the practice of instructional design of courses and programs. His research projects included mobile learning, and using online proctoring to increase flexibility, accessibility and academic integrity of blended and online courses. He has been an invited keynote presenter at international conferences.
